Two Iran films to compete at 2017 Cannes shorts

Two Iranian short films have qualified for Short Films Competition as well as Cinefondation Selection at Cannes 2017.

Two Iranian short films have been chosen for Short Films Competition and Cinefondation Selection categories at the 70th Festival de Cannes in France.

‘Lunch Time’ by Alireza Ghasemi became the official selection of Cannes Court Metrage (Cannes Short Film Corner).

This year, the selection committee received 4843 short films from which 9 films from Finland, France, United Kingdom, Denmark, Greece, Iran, the US, Poland, China, Colombia and Sweden were chosen.

Meanwhile, in the Cinefondation selection, another Iranian short film ‘Animal’ by Bahman Ark has been chosen from 2600 works submitted to this year’s edition.

Submitted by the Iranian National School of Cinema, ‘Animal’ will compete with 16 films submitted by film schools from fourteen different countries.

The Cinéfondation Selection is a foundation under the patronage of the prestigious Cannes Films Festival, created to inspire and support the next generation of international filmmakers. The Cinéfondation selects shorts and medium-length films presented by film schools from all over the world and serves as parallel section of the Official Selection of Cannes Film Festival.

The 70th edition of Cannes Film Festival will be organized on May 17-28, 2017 in the French city of Cannes.
